Royal London leverages AI to open up conversations around menopause
- New Menopal+ companion gives colleagues and people leaders immediate access to trusted menopause information and workplace guidance
- Colleague-led, community-shaped AI solution developed from insight within Royal London’s menopause community and tested with Menopause Champions
Royal London, the UK's largest customer-owned life, pensions and investment company, today announces the launch of Menopal+, an AI-powered menopause companion, for colleagues. The latest addition to its established menopause support programme, the tool provides a private space to access trusted information, giving colleagues and people leaders another avenue to find support.
Menopal+ broadens access to menopause support, whether colleagues are experiencing symptoms, beginning to notice changes to their health, or supporting someone else. It offers a private, accessible space to explore trusted information at their own pace, helping colleagues, people leaders and family members approach conversations with greater understanding and confidence. The companion works alongside Royal London’s Menopals community, Menopause Champions and monthly Menopals forum. Developed by a colleague in the Menopals community in line with Royal London’s responsible AI governance framework, it provides practical guidance and signposting while complementing human support and advice from qualified healthcare professionals.
Importantly, Menopal+ does not offer medical advice; instead, it helps colleagues feel more informed and empowered ahead of taking the next steps. For example, by creating a symptom tracker to record changes and discuss with their GP.
The launch reflects Royal London’s wider approach to women’s health and workplace inclusion, demonstrating how colleague insight, supportive leadership, practical adjustments, peer networks and digital tools can work together to help people access support in a way that meets their individual needs.
Claire Williams, Head of Organisational Effectiveness, Royal London said:
“Menopal+ shows what can happen when colleagues are empowered to turn their ideas and skills into practical support for others. Blending AI with trusted information and peer networks gives people a place to explore what they may be experiencing and organise their thoughts before taking the next step.
“The tool is not intended to replace human conversations. It can help someone feel better prepared to speak to a colleague, people leader, menopause champion or healthcare professional, while keeping those important human connections at the heart of our support.”
Royal London’s Menopals community has grown to nearly 400 members and provides peer support, informal discussion, educational activity and signposting to internal and external resources.
