If you have questions about your protection plan at this time, we recommend you speak to a financial adviser first. They’re best placed to understand what you need.

Existing plans

For existing customers, death due to Coronavirus would be a valid claim for Life Cover subject to the terms and conditions of your plan.

Yes. If you’re unable to work due to Coronavirus you may have a valid claim, subject to the terms and conditions of your plan. Your claim can only become valid after the end of your selected deferred period. You can find your deferred period in your cover summary. Our minimum deferred period for Income Protection is four weeks.

No. Income Protection pays out if you are ill or injured and are unable to work for longer than the deferred period on your plan. If you’re not ill or injured and the only thing stopping you working is the availability of work then Income Protection will not pay out.

We recognise the impact COVID-19 is having on our customers, and some might be struggling financially just now. We want to do everything we can to help, so you can retain your cover during this time of uncertainty and in the future.

If your personal circumstances have changed or you’re facing financial difficulties and unable to pay your monthly premiums in the short term, please contact our customer service team on 0345 6094 500 and they’ll be able to discuss what options we may be able to offer you.

Our plans don’t contain exclusions in relation to pandemics or the contraction of a virus in a foreign country. We do restrict Critical Illness and Income Protection claims to certain parts of the world. This means if you’re living or working outside the UK we may need you to return to one of a list of specified countries for us to consider a claim. Please refer to your Plan Details for more information. If you’d like us to send you a copy of your Plan Details, please contact us.

If you have any concerns about Coronavirus or are displaying symptoms you should contact the NHS 111 service.

Helping Hand is there to support you if you experience serious illness (e.g. cancer), injury or bereavement. It gives you access to a dedicated nurse who can provide advice and support on physical and mental health issues. They’ll provide tailored and personal support for as long as you need it. If you’d like to use Helping Hand just call us on 0345 6094 500.

Our Helping Hand service also gives you and your family (partner and children) access to independent medical, legal and career helplines. If you’d like to use any of our helplines, just call 0345 6012 598.

Of course – we’re happy to help. We’re pleased to report that our service is running well and we’re operating a business as usual service with our normal opening hours.

You can call us on 0345 6094 500 Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm for any enquiries about your plan.
