Royal London, the UK’s largest life, pensions and investment mutual, has appointed two senior roles in its protection business.

Fiona Wynn has joined as head of protection proposition and Mark Preston as service delivery manager with responsibility for large cases. The new appointments support plans for growth, particularly in the high net worth and business protection space.

Fiona, previously head of products within Legal and General’s retail protection division, brings a strong background in end-to-end proposition development and customer engagement, including experience within reinsurance.

Mark was most recently supporting Aegon UK’s individual protection business, which will transfer to Royal London later this year, and brings a wealth of experience as a technical underwriter and operational manager. He has built up specialist knowledge of medical and financial underwriting, using this to develop market-leading underwriting propositions.

Bolstering its support for advisers, the duo will ensure that the mutual continues to enhance its overall proposition including its high net worth offering.

Carrie Johnson, protection director at Royal London:

"Mark and Fiona are excellent additions to our talented team. They’re both well-known and well-regarded in the protection industry.

"We have a clear ambition to continue to strengthen our position in the protection market and we welcome them both on board to help shape the future development of our value proposition."
