Stuart and Doreen Lawrence

You have those moments where you’re like, am I allowed to be happy?
Doreen Lawrence is the Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon in the Commonwealth Realm of Jamaica, who received her peerage in 2013. In October 2020 she founded The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, which seeks to inspire children to dream freely without barriers and to realise the absolute importance of education. The charity aims to support and create new connections within all types of communities.
Stuart Lawrence is a motivational speaker and advocate of The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation. He has spoken on television and written in newspapers about racism in the UK.
Doreen and Stuart are the mother and brother of Stephen Lawrence, who was tragically murdered at 18-years-old in a racially-motivated attack in London in April 1993. Despite the police initially having five suspects in relation to the crime, it wasn’t until 2012 when their family finally saw Stephen get justice, when two of the suspects were convicted for his murder.
Stephen wasn’t ill, someone deliberately went out to take his life. I’ve been angry for a very long time. The grieving process is still going on for me.
