Barry O'Dwyer joined Royal London in September 2019 as Group Chief Executive. He has extensive experience in financial services, having started his career at a mutual insurance group in 1988. He trained and qualified as an actuary and held a number of senior management positions in both the UK and Ireland. Prior to joining Royal London, he was CEO of Pensions & Savings and a director of Standard Life plc. Mr. O'Dwyer also plays a prominent role in the industry, sitting on the board of the Association of British Insurers.
Isobel Langton has been leading our Intermediary business as CEO since 2014. Isobel is a member of GEC and reports directly to Barry O'Dwyer our Group CEO. Isobel’s background is steeped in life and pensions. Having worked for Irish Life in a number of roles in the UK, she joined Royal London in 2000 shortly after it acquired United Assurance Group (UAG) where she was responsible for integrating customer service for all of Royal London and UAG. She then moved to Scottish Life as a member of their leadership team focusing on customer experience, with roles leading Customer Services teams and Business Transformation initiatives. In June 2012 Isobel was appointed as the Group Customer Services Director, where she brought together the Customer Service businesses across our life and pensions brands.
Rob Regan has been CEO of IFDL and a Member of the IFDL Board for almost two years. He is accountable for authoring and executing the business strategy for IFDL, trading as Ascentric in the intermediary platform market. Rob is an experienced senior executive with significant experience of transforming businesses and building competitive advantage across a range of blue chip financial services organisations.
Previous roles in Royal London have included Group Operations and Customer Services Director. Prior to this Rob spent two years as COO at Legal and General Insurance, and from June 2006 to November 2014 he worked in a variety of senior roles at Lloyds Bank including Direct Business roles, Head of Sales and Head of in a variety of business units.
Rob's core strengths are driving change in organisational cultures, and delivering step changes in economic value creation. A values driven leader with strong technical competence in operations, commercial management and transformation.
Nicky Riding joined in October 2016 as the Group People Director and as a member of GEC. She reports directly to Barry O'Dwyer. Nicky has considerable industry and technical expertise, gained from a variety of roles in Cable & Wireless, Royal Bank of Scotland and Discovery Communications. Most recently she was People Director, UK, Europe and Strategic Corporate Centre at Standard Life where she supported the executive in delivering a transformational people agenda.
Jerry Toher joined Royal London Group in 2011 as CEO of MoneyVista. He was appointed to his present position of CEO Consumer Division in June 2012, launching our new D2C business in 2014. Jerry has extensive marketing and leadership experience in retail financial services, has led a number of new business launches and is an advocate of customer insight, innovation and digital marketing. His previous roles include Marketing Director of NatWest and RBS retail banking, Marketing Director and Managing Director at egg.com as well as other senior roles in RBS, Prudential and N&P Building Society.
Andrew Carter joined Royal London Asset Management in September 2001 as Chief Investment Officer. In September 2003 he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer with overall responsibility for RLAM’s corporate strategy and delivery.
Andrew began his investment management career in 1983 with Provident Life as a UK Equity Analyst while also assisting in the running of their property portfolio. In 1985 Andrew joined Mercantile & General Reinsurance, managing a variety of both equity and fixed income portfolios, before moving on two years later to become Continental European Fund manager at Gartmore. After successfully managing pan-European portfolios, Andrew became Gartmore’s Head of UK Institutional Equities in 1997, prior to his appointment as overall Head of UK Equities in 1999. Andrew graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Modern History and Economics.
James McCourt joined Royal London in 2012. Before his appointment as Chief Risk Officer in 2019, he held a number of key leadership roles - including Group Chief Conduct Officer (RMLIS), Chief Risk Officer (RLAM) and Director of the Investment Office. Passionate about the financial services industry - in particular the role of risk management in creating strategic advantage - James has worked across a number of sectors, having held senior roles in private equity, banking and insurance firms. With more than 20 years of experience, he focuses on ensuring a robust control environment is also an enabler of first-class customer service.
James is a past lecturer at Glasgow University on Investment and Taxation. He holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and completed the Strategic Asset Management course at London Business School.
Jon Glen has been working for Royal London since 2005 and was appointed to the GEC as Group Operations Director in November 2018. Jon’s previous roles for the Group include being Commercial Director for the Scottish Provident and Bright Grey protection business and Managing Director of Royal London Ireland. Jon has extensive experience of transforming operational functions and leading major programmes. He has previously held senior roles within sales and outsourcing organisations and spent 6 years as a Trustee Director for Irish Pension schemes.
Steve Murray joined Royal London in October 2019 as Group Corporate Development Director and as a member of the GEC. Steve leads our Group Corporate Development activity including M&A, Group Strategy and Operational Efficiency.
Steve has spent his career in the Financial Services Industry. Most recently, he was Deputy Head of Private Markets in Aberdeen Standard Investments. Steve’s previous roles have included Ernst & Young followed by fifteen years at Standard Life. He held senior roles there including Group Strategy & Corporate Finance Director, CEO of 1825 Financial Planning and MD Commercial & Strategy for Standard Life UK and Europe.
Will Pritchett joined Royal London in January 2020 as Group Chief Information Officer with responsibility for technology, change and digital. Will has worked in Financial Services technology for over 20 years having joined from KPMG where he was Partner for Technology and strategic advisor and delivery lead to Royal London. Will has also been a Senior Executive in Accenture and Royal Sun Alliance and has worked globally transforming technology estates.
Noel Freeley joined Royal London in 2013 and is our Legacy Division Director with responsibility of overseeing Royal London's longstanding customers across Life, Savings, Protection and Investments products.
Prior to joining Royal London, Noel has held senior management positions within the Financial Services industry, including five years at Co-operative Insurance heading up their Pensions and Protection business. Prior to this, Noel spent 10 years working for Friends Provident both in the UK and Asia. Noel is a chartered insurer and also a Board member of four of Royal London's subsidiary companies including RLUM Limited, RL Marketing (CIS) Limited, Royal London Savings Limited and Royal London Marketing Limited.
Fergus Speight joined Royal London in April 2011 as General Counsel, leading the Legal and Company Secretarial function. Fergus' insurance experience began at Sun Alliance in Manchester, joining as a graduate before becoming a senior underwriter. He then trained as a solicitor at Standard Life in Edinburgh before moving to General Accident where he worked on the company mergers which became the core of the Aviva Group.
Fergus moved next to Nomura, a Japanese broker dealer; and later Resolution Group on its acquisition of life companies from Abbey National (which included Scottish Provident). Fergus is a regular speaker at Legal conferences, contributor to articles and mentor to many GC's who are at the outset of their careers. In January 2020, Fergus made it on to the Lawyer Hot 100 list and was recognised for his contribution to innovation in respect of the delivery of legal services.
David Rush joined Royal London in September 2019 as Interim Group Finance Director. David is the Insurance leader for Deloitte's Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He is a senior partner who joined Deloitte in London from the Sydney office in 1990.
He has been lead audit partner for many of Deloitte's larger and listed client relationships and has considerable experience in assisting clients on accounting, internal controls, and mergers and acquisitions.
