To process your claim, we’ll need to see the:

  • Death certificate
  • Will - only if one has been left
  • Grant of Probate or letters of administration - only if they have been issued
  • Original policy documents – if available
  • Proof of name (Marriage certificate/ Deed poll/ Decree Absolute). We only need to see this if you are the executor, and your name is different now to how it is in the will.

To make this easier, you can upload scanned images or pictures of the documents you have taken using your mobile phone.

How to take a photo of your documentation:

  • You’ve not covered any part of the page.
  • All 4 edges of the page are in your photo.
  • You can clearly see all the text is in focus.
  • There's no shine from a light or window.
  • The photo is not a screen shot from your phone as we don’t accept these.

All uploaded documents must have a combined file size of less than 28MB.

We’ll need to clearly see the reference along the top. The Uploaded file must represent an image of an original certified copy (or extract in Scotland) death certificate/document issued from a registry office and can’t be from a reproduced copy. Overseas Death certificates are acceptable along with Welsh Death certificates, but we must see both sides of the document to be able to move forward with the claim, due to the important information held on both sides.
We’ll need to see a copy of the full last signed Will.
If either of these documents have been issued you must upload them.
