Looking for Refuge Assurance?

Refuge Assurance has rebranded to Royal London.

If that name doesn’t ring any bells, we’re the largest mutual life, pensions and investment company in the UK.

If you had (or think you had) a policy with Refuge Assurance and you’d like to find out more, we’re here to help.

In December 2000, Royal London Group acquired United Assurance Group PLC which had previously been formed by the merger of United Friendly and Refuge Assurance in October 1996. This means that Royal London now looks after all of the life assurance, investment and pension businesses previously owned by the United Assurance Group.

Frequently asked questions

The company I’m looking for isn’t listed. Does that mean my plan isn’t with Royal London?

We’re afraid so. But just because your plan isn’t with us, doesn’t mean all is lost.

To take your search further, there are other sources you can use that are ready and willing to help.

For pension plans

My plan was from a number of years ago – will you still have my details?

Absolutely. If the company your plan was with is listed on this page, we can trace it.

All you need to do is give us a call on the number shown, and our experts will be happy to help.

What details will I need when I call?

If you have any paperwork from the company your plan was with, it should hopefully mention a plan, plan number or scheme number. That would be a great starting point.

If you don’t have anything like that, don’t panic. We’ll be able to search for your plan using more general details like your name, address and date of birth.

My partner/relative passed away and I’ve found a statement in their name. Can I still call you?

Of course you can. All you need to do is give us the plan number or plan reference on the statement when you call.
