Bringing our Purpose to life
Driven by our Purpose, we’re committed to playing our part in moving fairly to a sustainable world.
Our climate strategy is focused on delivering real world change for the planet and society. Through our role as a responsible investor, we engage with the companies we invest in and policymakers to support a fair transition to net zero. At the same time, some of our social impact initiatives directly support people and communities to take action against climate and nature risks.
Our partnership with Groundwork helps us make a difference from the ground up – empowering those communities most impacted by climate change and promoting nature recovery where it’s needed most.
Transforming communities together
Our collaboration with Groundwork is built on a shared commitment to creating stronger, fairer communities. Their efforts focus on supporting communities and businesses to develop the skills and resilience needed to drive progress towards net zero, and to protect nature in ways that reduces inequalities and encourage people to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
By joining forces, we can extend our reach and effectiveness – addressing the challenges of climate change and social inequality to help both people and places flourish.
Our impact in action
Through our partnership, we're proud to support a diverse range of community-led nature projects across the UK, each dedicated to revitalising local green spaces and boosting biodiversity.
From transforming neglected public spaces and former industrial sites into vibrant wildlife havens in Edinburgh, Manchester, Morpeth, and Stoke, to empowering communities in Liverpool, Nottinghamshire, York, and Glasgow with skills and stewardship opportunities, these initiatives put people at the heart of environmental change.
Projects include the creation of wildflower meadows, habitat restoration, woodland management, and the establishment of new orchards. Each of these projects isare designed with local involvement, education, and wellbeing in mind.
Together, we’re helping to tackle environmental challenges, enhance urban and rural spaces, and foster lasting connections between people and nature.
Stemming the loss of nature and protecting our communities from the impacts of climate change are major challenges that can only be addressed by equipping and empowering communities to take a lead. We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Royal London to bring the benefits of being better connected with nature to the people and places that need it most.
