Recent research3 carried out by Royal London showed that 60% of current cash ISA holders would consider investing into a stocks and shares ISA if it offered the potential to outpace inflation. However, the findings also highlighted a significant knowledge gap, with one in four UK adults (25%) avoiding using a stocks and shares ISA due to a lack of understanding about how they work.

Commenting on the ISA, Jo Kite, chief customer officer at Royal London said:

"With heightened interest in ISA options and speculation about potential changes for UK savers, it's a pivotal time for Royal London, as the UK's largest mutual investment provider, to launch our new Stocks and Shares ISA. Offering the same range of investments as our award-winning pension offering, our new Stocks and Shares ISA allows customers to consolidate their savings in one place.

"Our research shows that many cash ISA holders would consider switching to a stocks and shares ISA to help their savings keep pace with inflation. But a lack of understanding remains a major barrier. That's why we’ve focused on providing clear, accessible guides and information – both online and within our application journey – to help customers make informed decisions on how a stocks and shares ISA can support their wider savings goals."
