Following its AGM on Tuesday 6 June 2023, Royal London announces that following their appointment by the Board earlier in the year, Pars Purewal and Eithne McManus have been elected as Non-Executive Board Directors by members.

Pars Purewal, who joined Royal London in February 2023, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and in 2019 retired as a senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) after an almost 40-year career.

Eithne McManus joined the business in April 2023. Eithne is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary, and is an experienced Non-Executive Director in the life and pensions industry.

As reported in the Royal London’s 2022 Annual Report and Accounts, Shirley Garrood stood down from the Board at the end of the 2023 AGM. Pars Purewal succeeded Shirley as Chair of Royal London Asset Management Limited with effect from 6 June 2023.

Kevin Parry OBE and Chairman of Royal London said:

“Pars brings considerable asset management experience, having led PwC’s asset management practice. Eithne has an excellent understanding of the life and pensions industry, having been Chief Executive Officer at City of Westminster Assurance, further strengthening the Board’s actuarial expertise.

“I’m looking forward to working with both Pars, Eithne and the wider Royal London Board, focusing on how we continue to meet the needs of our members and customers to support and protect their standard of living now and in the future.”

Pars and Eithne are members of Royal London’s Nominations and Governance Committee. Eithne is also a member of Royal London’s With-Profits Committee and Risk and Capital Committee.
