Funerals are expensive. So you want to get as much as you can for your family. It’s worth comparing payouts before you buy.
If you need to stop paying, your family can still get at least half of the payout when you die, as long as you are at least through paying for your policy. That's halfway from the start of your policy until the policy anniversary date after you turn 90. You stop paying at that policy anniversary date or when you die, whichever comes first.
If you stop paying you could lose all your cover. With us, you can reduce it to bring your payments down. You just have to keep paying at least £3.95 a month.
You only have to be with us for 1 year before you’re fully covered. If you pass away while you are covered after the first year, we will pay out the full payout amount. Some providers will make you wait 2 years.
Take out an Over 50s Life Cover policy and you’ll be immediately covered for accidental death†. If you were to die as the result of an accident in the first year, we will pay the full payout amount. It’s extra peace of mind, at no extra cost.
You can start a policy from just £3.95 a month – that’s just 13p a day! And you can make a bigger monthly payment for a bigger payout for your family. If you have any questions or want further information, why not talk to one of our UK experts.
As a mutual, we have no shareholders to pay. So we can put more of our profits into making our products great for our customers.
Depending on how long you live, you could pay more in monthly payments than the amount of money we pay out when you die. The amount of money you choose is fixed and inflation (the rising cost of goods and services) will reduce its value over time.
We only pay out on death. There is no cash-in value at any time. If you die from an accident in the first 12 months (covered by the policy), we will pay the full amount of money. If you die in the first 12 months and your death was not due to an accident, we’ll return the monthly payments that have been made to us for your policy. After 12 months we will pay the full amount of money regardless of the cause of death.
Accidental death
If you die within the first year of this policy as a result of an accident, we’ll pay the full Payout. When we say ‘accident’, we mean an event that causes physical injury which could not have been predicted and was not intentional.
If you commit suicide, within the first year, this wouldn’t be counted as an accidental death and we’ll return all the payments you have made up to that point.
Non-accidental death
If you die during the first year of your policy and it wasn’t because of an accident, we’ll return all the monthly payments you’ve made up to that point.
For example, if your monthly payments were £20 and you made six payments before you died, we’d refund the £120 you’d paid us.
We will stop collecting payments on the policy anniversary date after you reach age 90 or when you die, whichever is sooner. If you stop making your payments before you’re halfway through your payment term your cover will end and you’ll get nothing back. If you stop after the halfway point, your family will get some money when you die. We can tell you about our cover but cannot advise if it is right for you. If you are not sure if it is right for you, please ask your financial advisor, or visit unbiased.co.uk to find one who could help.If you would like to read the terms and conditions, call us to have a copy posted to you, or see ‘Important Information’ at royallondon.com/over50sinfo If you apply for cover, you will also receive them with your policy documents.
