We have something called the Spirit of Royal London. These are values closest to our hearts because they reflect daily life here and sustain our ambitions. They inspire us to impress our customers with a higher quality of service. It’s a big claim, but they even create a more open, honest and enjoyable place to work – giving you greater freedom to succeed.
- We are empowered – We provide people with the tools and authority to act and make decisions. So that everyone here has a voice to improve the way things are done.
- We are trustworthy – We’re approachable and transparent in the way we interact. We build relationships that are built on trust and respect, delivering mutual benefit.
- We collaborate – We share our knowledge, developing our expertise and learning from mistakes. We inspire each other to give our best and enjoy our work.
- We achieve – We go the extra mile to deliver the best outcomes. We’re always looking to do things better and continuously improve our performance.
We think they reflect what we are all about. But for you, they give you the freedom to be your best. This spirit is just one of the reasons we've made Glassdoor's list of the Top 50 Best Places to Work for 2020.
We are committed to the wellbeing of everyone across our teams – not just because it means you’ll perform better, but because it’s the right thing to do. We’re doing all we can to raise awareness of the impact a healthy wellbeing can have on our personal and working lives.
Make a difference
Whatever role you play at Royal London, we’re set up for you to make a difference. We listen to what matters to you, take the time to get to know you and give you the freedom to influence us. Everyone has a voice – because inclusion and diversity isn’t just a basic right, it’s a powerful tool.
Outside of Royal London, you can also make a difference in our communities. We believe in being a responsible business and all do our bit – whether it’s reducing our footprint on the environment or volunteering for a worthy cause.
We’ll help you play to your strengths. And if you aspire to a move to a new role, we’ll impart the wisdom and skills you need to secure that future.
Learning is best while doing, so you can gather experience and learn lots day-to-day in your role, as well as learning from our range of workshops, coaching and mentoring, and access to online tools. There are professional qualifications and apprenticeships we’ll help you work towards – which not only play a big part in your individual capability, but allow us to try fresh approaches in the future.
We’re all leaders at Royal London – whether you drive yourself, other people or own a subject as a thought leader, you’re in charge of your development. Except when you look to your own leader for advice and motivation.
We have a suite of policies that underpin our promise, providing benefits that exceed our statutory requirements.
In line with our ethos, we believe that by looking after our people, and enabling them to balance their work and home lives, we create an inclusive environment which enables our people to contribute to the best of their abilities, whatever their own circumstances.
Our family friendly policies far exceed our statutory requirements. At Royal London, all our people benefit from maternity provisions providing 26 weeks of leave at full pay and 13 weeks of half pay. We have doubled the statutory provisions for paternity leave from two weeks to four weeks. And we recognise that at times in their lives, people are likely to have caring responsibilities and so incorporate 10 days' paid carers leave and 4 days' paid dependents leave in our leave policies. These are all available from the day you join us. We also offer Statutory rates of Parental Leave and Shared Parental Leave. We do not impose any repayment conditions in the event that a parent chooses not to return to work.
