Where to look for an adviser

Using the professional expertise of a financial adviser can be reassuring when making big decisions about your money. They can help you put a short and long-term plan together whether you’re looking at pensions and investments, or insurance and mortgages.

We’ve provided links to directories below that are independent to Royal London. The advisers on these sites can sell products from other providers, as well as from us.

Advisers for pensions and retirement

Moneyhelper brings together the support and services of three government-backed financial guidance providers: the Money Advice Service, the Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise.

Their Adviser Retirement Directory can help you find regulated and impartial advisers, to give advice on topics such as:

  • pension and retirement planning
  • long-term care planning
  • equity release
  • inheritance tax planning or wills and probate.

Start by deciding if you want to meet your adviser in person, or online, then narrow down your search by choosing what you need help with.

Is advice right for you?

Choosing an adviser

  • Do you want to meet your adviser face-to-face or online?

  • Choose an adviser that specialises in the area you need help with

  • Look for the qualifications your adviser holds

  • Select an adviser that deals with the pension pot size that is relevant to you

  • Some will say what their minimum or typical fees are

  • The first meeting is usually free, so it’s a good opportunity to check if they are right for you.

The advice process

Find an adviser

Use one of the directories, or ask friends and family for recommendations, to find an adviser best suited to your needs.

Book a consultation

Many advisers offer a free initial meeting – giving you a chance to decide if you want to work with them.

Make the most of your money

Consider your adviser's recommendations. If you have an ongoing agreement with them, they'll then monitor your financial situation and advise if any changes are needed.
